One manufacturer

We take work on Viking equipment and nothing else: ranges, wall ovens, built-in refrigeration, ventilation and dishwashers. Turning down other brands is a deliberate constraint. It keeps the parts inventory shallow enough to actually carry, and it means the second visit is usually unnecessary.

What independent means here

It means exactly what it says. We are not part of any manufacturer service programme, we hold no manufacturer appointment, and we claim no credential issued by an appliance manufacturer — because none of that would be true. When you call us you are hiring an independent contractor, and you should be able to verify that in ten seconds.

Ballast Point Appliance is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Viking or its parent company. All brand names and model numbers are the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify the appliances we service.

The credential we do hold

EPA Section 608 certified technicians. Section 608 certification is required by federal law to handle refrigerant. It is issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, not by any appliance manufacturer. It is the certification federal law requires for anyone opening a sealed refrigeration system, and it is issued to individual technicians, not to companies or to brands.

How we price

$129 flat to diagnose. Flat diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair when you approve the work. You get a written estimate before any part is ordered or any labour is billed. Work is warranted for 90 days on labour and 365 days on parts, and we fit genuine OEM parts.

What we will not do

• Quote a repair before measuring the appliance.
• Fit a part that is not the manufacturer's own.
• Claim an affiliation or appointment we do not hold.
• Publish a review, rating or case study we did not receive from a customer.
