We do not advertise emergency or after-hours work. If a call comes in outside these hours it is returned the next working morning.
What to have ready
- The appliance type — range, wall oven, cooktop, refrigeration, ventilation or dishwasher. Those six are the whole of what we take; heating and air conditioning are not among them, and it is cheaper to hear that now than after a van has been dispatched.
- The model and serial, from the rating plate. On a range it is usually behind the kick panel or inside the door frame.
- What the appliance is doing, in plain terms, and when it started.
- Whether anything changed just before — a storm, an outage, a kitchen clean.
- Your address and the best window for a visit.

What people ask when they ring
- What should I have ready when I call?
- The appliance type, the model and serial off the rating plate, what the appliance is actually doing, and when it started. If a storm, an outage or a deep kitchen clean came first, mention it. That is usually enough to load the van correctly before anyone leaves.
- Is there an email address or a contact form?
- No, and that is deliberate. The telephone and the booking page are the only two ways in, so nothing sits unread in an inbox and no diagnosis gets attempted in writing by someone who has not seen the appliance.
- When can somebody actually come out?
- Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Closed Sunday. There is no emergency, after-hours or round-the-clock service here, because none is run. A call that arrives outside those hours is returned the next working morning.
- Do you take heating or air-conditioning work?
- No. Ballast Point Appliance services built-in kitchen appliances built by Viking, the appliance manufacturer: ranges and rangetops, wall ovens, cooktops, built-in refrigeration, ventilation hoods and dishwashers. It is not a heating or air-conditioning company. Furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers and house duct work belong to a mechanical contractor, not to us, and we say so on the phone rather than send a van. The kitchen is the whole of the book.
