What it costs to decide

You get a written estimate before any part is ordered or any labour is billed. If the appliance is not worth repairing, or the job belongs with the manufacturer rather than with us, you will be told that instead of quoted for it.

The failure list

What we find instead

Most of what we are called to comes down to a short list, and most of it arrives disguised as something else.

Ignition. A sealed burner that clicks without lighting is usually a fouled or cracked igniter, or a spark module that has lost one output while the others still fire. The symptom looks like a gas problem and almost never is.

Temperature. Oven probes drift. A cavity that reads correct on the display and bakes twenty degrees off is a sensor out of tolerance, and swapping it without verifying the new one against a measured cavity temperature just moves the error.

Doors. A professional oven door is genuinely heavy — glass, insulation, a solid handle — hung on two hinges and held closed by spring tension that relaxes with twenty years of use. It presents as a temperature complaint, never as a door complaint.

Weather. The area records roughly 68 thunderstorm days a year. A surge does not always kill a control board outright; it damages a supply component that fails weeks later, by which time nobody connects the two.

Access. A professional range or a built-in refrigerator sits in an opening that was built around it, sometimes decades ago. Whether the appliance can come forward on its rails, how much clearance the face frame leaves, and what the floor in front of it will take are all settled before any part is discussed — and if a replacement would not fit the existing opening, you hear that during the diagnostic rather than after the old unit is standing in the middle of the kitchen.

Equipment

What we work on

One manufacturer, five categories. Ballast Point Appliance does not take work on other brands, which is why the van carries the parts your appliance actually needs.

  • Viking professional ranges
  • Viking wall ovens
  • Viking built-in refrigeration
  • Viking ventilation hoods
  • Viking dishwashers

Ranges

Sealed burners that will not light, ovens that run off their setpoint, and doors that have lost their spring tension — the three faults that fill most Clay County range calls.

Wall Ovens

Built-in ovens fail quietly. The oven keeps running while it holds the wrong temperature, and the first sign is usually food, not a fault code on the display.

Cooktops

A drop-in cooktop or rangetop has no oven to hide behind. When a burner will not light or an induction zone will not hold power, the fault is in a short circuit.

Refrigeration

Built-in refrigeration fails slowly. A compartment that has drifted two degrees is doing more damage to your food than a unit that has stopped altogether.

Ventilation

A hood that moves less air than it used to is rarely a broken blower. Far more often it is a duct, a filter, or a make-up air problem the kitchen never solved.

Dishwashers

When a dishwasher stops cleaning, the cause is either mechanical or chemical, and the two need separating before any part is ordered. Drainage is the most common call.

How we work

Measured, then quoted

  1. You describe the symptom

The model line and what the appliance is actually doing. That is enough to load the van correctly before we leave.

  2. We measure on site

$129 flat. Flat diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair when you approve the work.

  3. You get it in writing

You get a written estimate before any part is ordered or any labour is billed. Nothing is ordered until you say so.

  4. The work is warranted

90 days on labour, 365 days on parts, genuine OEM parts.

Owner feedback

What owners said afterwards

4.4 out of 5 from 34 customer reviews. Each entry below is a single visit, in the words of the person who paid for it. Read all 34.

  1. The oven door had gone stiff and would only shut with a shove. He stripped the hinge assembly, found one hinge bent from a heavy tray, replaced the pair and set the door true against the frame.

    Marcy L.2026-01-18

  2. Wine storage had been sitting a few degrees above where it was set for months. He found the door heater circuit shorted, which was loading the cabinet, and replaced it. Steady ever since, though it took two visits.

    Bruno C.2026-02-14

  3. Wall oven kept cutting out mid roast without warning. He traced it to a loose connection at the terminal block that had been arcing quietly for months, repaired it back to the panel and checked the run.
